I seen the scariest line drive to the head of one of pitchers this year(lucky he healed quick and can still play the game)!! His dad talked to the doctor and did research and found this!! I don’t know why it’s not required!! We ordered my son One right away and he said you don’t even know it’s there!! It doesn’t bother him at all!!The item is great, we ordered it 4 years ago after my son a pitcher suffered a head injury while pitching. After surgery and rehab he was more than happy to wear this at his next games. He is very picky and does not complain of any discomfort wearing this shield. My only complaint is the website states that for 7 1/2 hat you should order a medium. This is wrong.... I just received his new SST plate and it was too small. The box it came in states you need a large for a 7 1/2 hat, so now I have to send it back and reorder. The medium is way too small.’m sure it’s a great product, but we wouldn’t know since our head guard didn’t come with anything to keep it securely attached in my son’s hat. I contacted SST through their Facebook page (since no one answers their phone or returns messages) where I was told a Velcro kit would be mailed to me. A couple of weeks went by, no kit appeared so I again attempted to call, left a message and surprise, no response. Again, I contacted them through Facebook and was again told they’d mail it out. Fast forward two more weeks and I’m contacting them AGAIN because still no kit. I was told I’d receive it within 2 days. That was 4 days ago. Still no kit and we are now approaching 1 month since I initially contacted them. I’ve tried putting it in my son’s hat, but with nothing to hold it in place, it pops out and onto the top of his head. It’s now just an expensive piece of protective equipment sitting in his baseball bag. As parents, we felt it was important to do our best to protect him while he plays, but sadly SST must not agree. I’m guessing the $8 they charge for the Velcro kit is more important to them so it looks like I’ll just have to order it and cross my fingers it eventually makes its way to me.
